Simulive (simulated live)

Simulive — short for 'simulated live' — is a webinar format where a pre-recorded video is played at a scheduled time and presented to attendees as if it were happening live.

What simulive means

A simulive webinar streams a recording on a schedule, often with the host available in chat. Done transparently, it's a legitimate way to deliver a polished session repeatedly without re-presenting. The line gets crossed when platforms add simulated chat, fake attendee counts and fake purchase alerts to make a recording look genuinely live.

Why people use simulive

It captures the urgency and social energy of a live event while letting you deliver the same high-quality session again and again. The trade-off: if you fake the 'live' signals and an attendee notices, it damages trust.

The honest alternative

You can keep the convenience of simulive without the deception by using real AI chat on an evergreen webinar — attendees get genuine answers, and you don't pretend a recording is live.
